Brief summaries of some
Avtone projects:
Project
#1: Semiconductor Capital
Equipment phase-out -- Establish a plan for final release and support
for a Scanning Electron Microscope (SCM) product line for a switchover to
the next generation models.
Developed a plan and schedule for software, firmware, and hardware
releases. This included fixes
and added features as required by marketing and the user community. Manage project to plan, and
provide engineering support to the current technical support
organization. Ensure
compatibility with the next generation models to facilitate smooth
transition to production with the next generation (SCMs).
Project #2: Government --
Statewide (California Department of Forestry – Fire) rollout of BIOS, OS,
and applications updates to remote RAS (dial-in) locations. The large size of updates made it
prohibitive to accomplish via remote link using SMS. Required the development of a
technical delivery kit, training the delivery team, and managing project
execution to completion on time and under budget.
Project #3: Major
Gaming Machine Mfg. -- Progressive Game next-generation platforms for
private, secure, dedicated and switched networks and routers. Platform
characterization, communications module design and implementation. Final
test processes and procedures, and design of scripted simulator for network
testing (validation, load, and re-certification). Project included technical documentation and transfer of
technology.
Project #4: Corporate: --
Design and implementation of software on a DEC VAX cluster in California
simulating IBM 3270 full screen interactive query that is fully transparent
to the on-line host IBM system in Europe. Facilitates unattended interactive query sessions at
night with detail status reports available on the California VAX cluster in
the morning. The entire
simulation query/translation package designed as external table-driven,
simplifying change administration to simply updating an ASCII file (No
recompiles or link library changes required to support any IBM 3270 screen
format changes).
Project
#5: Enterprise-wide Systems and Network -- Establishment of a
company-wide plan for technologies to deliver more effective services.
·
Develop long-range plans and define the
staffing, resource, facilities, and technology architectural requirements.
·
Design and implement an integrated
enterprise-wide platform connecting the multiple sites using CISCO routers
and frame relay technology.
·
Implement connection of additional sites via
switched Remote Access Services (RAS).
·
Establish I.S. facilities and staffing with
required personnel, as well as a Help Desk accessible 24x7.
·
The platform: Windows BackOffice Server Suite
with Exchange/Outlook as the core communications service.
·
The clients: Win9x, WinNT (4.0, 2K, XP)
utilizing the MS Office Suite of applications programs.
·
Integrated to an Oracle database for an
H.R/Payroll application with direct links to the Financials Package using
the SQL Server database engine providing a click-on-item detail drill-down.
·
MS Access and VB for forms, data-capture, and
localized data manipulation/reporting tying back to a SQL Server based
central repository.
·
Integrate Internet access through T1 frame relay
port utilizing a CISCO Router connected to a Proxy Server.
·
Intranet services via IIS server and Exchange
public folders.
